The Somaliland Governments, present and past, have been telling to the Somalilanders that recognition from the international community is well in progress and close to home, but facts about this search of recognition is hidden and not revealed to the people.
The Governments have lied to the people of Somaliland by giving them false dream and ambition while the top politicians were building their reputation and making themselves known in the international arena. The people who run the country at the present are working hard for their benefit and to enrich their resumes so that they get their share of the power in Somalia. The people in power are already positioned themselves in Somalia affairs and sold Somaliland for their benefit and self interest. There is no doubt that such scenario is taking place right now in our face. Those people in power do not care even about their tribes and those who died (SNM) for the sake for Somaliland. The mat is removed from underneath the people. Their dream has been slowly killed by the power hungry individuals who run the country.
The President of Somaliland has been power hungry in all of his life and today he believes it is the right time to grab power before he is done. He has been planning this course of action since SNM’s struggle. He has been slowly and unnoticeably getting rid of his comrades from SNM. He surrounded himself with young and inexperienced watchdogs who never dare to question his agenda. Some of them travel the entire world, pretending themselves statesmen working for the interest of Somaliland and in search for recognition but fulfilling their greed, ambition, and enriching resumes. Mr. Siilaanyo has been in power struggle mode for the last two decades and at last become the real dictator. He has gradually gotten rid of all the leaders of SNM and those people who would have made the dream of Somalianders real.
The story coming from Mogadisho these days tells us what many Somalilanders believed. Hundreds of Somalianders are entering Mogadisho every day. Majority of those people are from those clans who believed in Somaliland but now woke up to the drums of the international community and the call for remaking Somalia. Mr. Siilaanyo has never doubted that he will one day come to the table with other Somali leaders and international community because that has been his agenda all along. He is hurrying to leave a legacy for his name and be part of the negotiations for remaking Somalia.
The big question is who is going to represent Somalilanders on the negotiating table. Will it be Siilaanyo and his young watchdogs? Will it be the other remnants of SNM? Will it be a delegation for all parts of Somaliland?
Mr. Siilaanyo and his young comrades have been planning to represent Somaliland in the upcoming meetings about remaking and remodelling Somalia. Their hidden agenda has come to light. The people are in disarray and trying to figure out what has happened to their dream. They are waking up and seeing their dream is gone with wind. People are fleeing in all directions with no control. The people who now realized the lies are coming to Mogadsiho in groups in search of jobs and positions in the nascent Somali Government. Now Somalilanders are singining the Somali saying: Someone who sleeps deep would see his cow delivers a bull < Ninkii seexduu sicii dibi dhalay >.
