The visit of president Silanyo to Jibouti sourced lot of unreasoned criticisms from some people in Somaliland, but the truth is, those who criticises the level hospitably for the president extended by Jibouti government are ignorant about the international law. In reality, that criticism is far from the logic the reality and the logic in the ground and the truth is, Jibouti government acted as per the international law that defines the relationship between nations and therefore Somaliland being unrecognized by international community as sovereign nation, it is impossible that Jibouti government will welcome president Silanyo as head of state like the head of states from other countries invited to participate president Ismail Omar Geele inauguration ceremony. Under the law and united nation nations character, Somaliland is part and parcel of Somalia and that is why united nations adopted tens of resolutions reaffirming its respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence and unity of Somalia and till Somaliland will be recognized internationally by the international community as independent country, Somaliland remains as part and parcel of Somalia and consequently the legal president recognised by the united nations is Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud even though Somaliland is as independent from Somalia internally but not externally in the view of absences diplomatic recognition from the international community.
Article No. 1 of united nation character articulates to maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace. To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion; and. To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.
Article No 2 articulates the Organization and its Members, in pursuit of the Purposes stated in Article 1, shall act in accordance with the following Principles. The Organization is based on the principle of the sovereign equality of all its Members. All Members, in order to ensure to all of them the rights and benefits resulting from membership, shall fulfil in good faith the obligations assumed by them in accordance with the present Charter. All Members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered. All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations. All Members shall give the United Nations every assistance in any action it takes in accordance with the present Charter, and shall refrain from giving assistance to any state against which the United Nations is taking preventive or enforcement action.
The Organization shall ensure that states which are not Members of the United Nations act in accordance with these Principles so far as may be necessary for the maintenance of international peace and security. Nothing contained in the present Charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or shall require the Members to submit such matters to settlement under the present Charter; but this principle shall not prejudice. Those who illogically criticising. Jibouti government should ask themselves why Somaliland has entered diplomatic talks with Somali federal government, the truth is, the reason why Somaliland negotiating with Somalia is simply to split officially from greater Somalia in an effort attain diplomatic recognition from the international community.
Had Somaliland recognized by international community leading by united nations as sovereign nation, we would not enter diplomatic negotiation with Somalia. What is international law, international Law outline the legal responsibilities of nations in their conduct with each other, and their treatment of individuals within State boundaries. It has wide range of issues of international concern. The Charter of the United Nations, in its Introduction sets the objective to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law. International law is set of rules which is bind to each and member of the united nations and Jibouti government not acted differently but complied in line with the international law and united nations character. International law can therefore be called real law between nations. The UN Charter, in its Preamble, set an objective to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained. Taken above into consideration, Somaliland which is not recognized internationally has no overall authority to enforce above the international law and the united nations character.
As all of us fully conscious about, the world is not jungle whereby everyone is free to do anything he likes right and wrong, but the truth is, the international law that defines the relationship between nations. The real fact is, Jibouti is good neighbour to Somaliland in all aspects to Somaliland.Tens of investors that invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Somaliland originated from Jibouti and moreover tens of Somaliland businessmen benefited the banking system of Jibouti and therefore, Jibouti, its government and its people are worth appreciation and thankful rather than criticism. Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He who does not thank people, does not thank Allah. gratefulness to each and all, Muslim or non-Muslim, neighbour or non-neighbour, is the way to be thankful to God. In the Quran, Allah reminds us that, “if ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you This applies to human beings as well. When we are grateful to others, they are more than willing to help us and do good for us. In reality Jibouti is strategic asset for Somaliland and its people in view of wide benefits that Somaliland gained from Jibouti since we reclaimed our independences from Somalia in 1991.
Those who believe that Jibouti government should welcome and treat President Silanyo like the other presidents invited to participated for the inauguration lacks common sense and the reality in the ground. We should be guided all the tie within the borders of common-sense as today different nations from the international community come together due to common-sense and with age comes common sense & wisdom. Nonsense is observed by the people that common-sense is limited like who those criticises the level of hospitality extended by Jibouti government to president Silanyo. A Wiseman said, it is thousand times better to have common-sense without education than education than have education without common-sense. Education without education the mind is not education at all. Another Wiseman said common-sense is genius dressed it’s working clothes.In reality, Jibouti is good friend of Somaliland and its people and those who classified that good friend as enemy of Somaliland lack reality. lacks truth, lacks facts, lacks accuracy, lacks honesty, lacks sincerity, faithfulness, lack the definition of international law and the united nation character and lacks common-sense. common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another, but above all try something. Common sense is calculation applied to life. Common sense is in spite of, not as the result of education.
Common sense is the ability to see things as they are without prejudice and do things as they ought to be done without influence of any kind. Common sense is an instinct given to man and enough of it is genius. Smartness is measured by the level of common sense one has, not by how much educated or knowledgeable he is. Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. Common sense is the foundation of all authorities, of the laws themselves, and of their construction. In absence of common-sense, that is why some people illogically criticising the level of hospitality extended by Jibouti government to president government. In short, Somaliland being unrecognized internationally, Djibouti government welcomed President Silanyo in line with the international law, united nations character and according to our diplomatic status from the world family of nations, nothing less. Jibouti did nothing wrong but complied in line united nations character and therefore, those who are irrationally criticising jibouti government are slaves for their emotion.
