My Dear Countrymen and Woman, Can You Please Help And Heal Our country?
Someone long ago told me that men don’t cry. In fact, now that I am a grown man, seeing what is happening in Somaliland, I have no choice but to cry. A m I the only one crying? If so, then, maybe, just may be, I am not ‘man’ enough.
But, why do I have to cry? I cry because those who are supposed to be our leaders have turned to be tyrants, crooks and dangerous warlords. I cry because there are so many of our people who are refugee in their own country. I cry because there are no leaders but politicians out to enrich themselves. I cry for my country because so many smart, brave and visionary leaders are not given a chance to lead. They cannot lead because the pathway is blocked by corruption, tribalism and ignorance.
So many of our citizens are blindly following those with money, without realizing that most of these politicians have money but have no brains nor heart. Why will I not cry when so many are thinking only on tribal lines? Why will I not cry when so many have no jobs, no food nor places to call home?
My dear countrymen, can you please help and heal our country? Can someone please tell Dr.Maxamed Abdillahi Omer and the rest to shut up for a minute? I know they have a right to talk and say what they want, but must they be the constant ‘issue’ affecting Somaliland today? Are there no other things to do or talk about in Somaliland?
What they have done and said is enough. Let us think about it and discuss about it. Someone please tell them to go home, eat and sleep. Let them take a break. Spare us alot of hate meetings and campaign. Spare us divisive politics and public prayers. Please Somalilanders, think, think and think about our country and not about our ’son’ or MP. Think about our country as a whole and what is good for us all.
I am just wondering if you’re hearing Somaliland people’s cry too. Somaliland is bleeding and in search of a leader who will lift us from these propagandist. These greedy and egocentric novices do think that Somaliland is theirs and without them, the nation will cease to exist must be taught a lesson. Its high time we soul searched to identify a leader who is pro- people to rejuvenate Somaliland. I’m sure some one is emerging soon and when this happens, we must move helter skelter to rally behind the person if we truly care about bequeathing a worthy nation for our children and the children of our children
Those in the Diaspora, you should lead the way. Those at home and in Universities, Colleges and at home, if you still have your brains, please use them for what is good. These leaders are drunk with power, money and fame. They are messing up our country while we are watching. I am counting on each and every one of you in Somalilanders, in America, in Europe, in Asia or Middle East. I am counting on you in Australia, in India and in all Africa.
I am asking you Somalilanders to search for a leader, support him or her and let him or her be elected president next time. I am asking you all to search for credible, visionary and upright Somalilanders to lead in so many areas, more especially in political offices. Forget about tribe, money or what family one is from, consider the individuals’ capabilities. Maybe I am the only one crying for now, but believe me, if we do not act now, if we do not leave out politicians like the ones we now have, politicians who have no shame nor vision, we will all be crying and Siilaanyo will not be the one to blame, but us.
May God bless Somaliland
