SSC Should Lay Down Arms And Start prospering Under Somaliland Democracy

Somalia has had enough of insurgency and the formation of new one shows how some people do not learn lessons from the destruction and mayhem that has been caused by the continuous fighting and the ongoing civil war in Somalia. Creating new groups for clan intentions such as that of Sool and Cayn of Somaliland is based on intentions of people obsessed with tribalism and have accumulated hate in their hearts for their assumed opponents.

The people of Sool and Cayn are part of Somaliland and have always been welcomed to join in the free elections and / or referendums that took place in Somaliland. They have mostly responded to the call for democracy by ambushing and hijacking innocent election staff.

The latest killing of a senior police officer in Laas Anood two days ago is an example of how this insurgency is depriving its people of the most talented and educated leaders from their community.

I have just learned that certain supporters  who live in the united Kingdom have sold their businesses and have financed  someone who was just granted political asylum from Somalia to go to Tuka Raq and lead the insurgency against Somalilnd. This person whom I do not want to name in this article has been a Somaliland minister once and has also been a foreign attaché for  the government of Ali Gedi of Somalia. He was granted asylum while he was on a mission  in UK when Ismail Bubaa and Ali Gedi developed split in the turbulent Somali politics.

This group whose leaders have taken great share in the genocide against the people of Somaliland during the rule of the late dictator Siyad Barre were very welcomed in Burao reconciliation process in 1991 and their elders accepted to be part of Somaliland and requested that SNM should not take any revenge against the war criminals.

Sool and Cayn are mainly inhabited by peace loving people but it seems few remnants from the old regime are hijacking the region and leading it into chaos and destruction.

Somaliland army is strong enough to defend the boundaries of the country, although the insurgents are trying to push the army towards a civil war that cannot be won by SC group. Eventually history will teach these remnants that the will of the people is more powerful than that of simply born destroyers. It would be wise for these insurgents to lay down their weapons and join the rest of Somaliland in order to benefit from the democracy and freedom that exists in the country.
