Brotherly Advice to Mayor Abdi Shide Bile of Borama.
The municipality of any city is a local government office that collects revenue from the people and in return serves them. For example, cleaning public places and streets and also repairing the damaged roads. Many people are asking themselves today What is happening to the municipality of Borama? Why is the city’s trash overloading in the center and in the corners of the city?.”
Mr. Bile, you have been the mayor of the city for three years now. You have done well at this job so far by renovating the slaughter houses and making your dream come true by building the first and only paved street. You did not only inspect the workplace, but you grabbed the shovel and physically worked full shifts with many faithful volunteers, men who felt just as passionately as you did for the work you were trying to accomplish. You made them believe that everyone could do it, even with poor construction equipment and without another hand to help. I have seen the tape and while seeing it, tears came to eyes while I saw their bloodstained hands while digging without gloves; I call these men heroes. You are the one who motivated these men.
Mr. Bile, your latest approval rating is 95% because out of the 2300 people who were asked who was the best mayor who held office, over 2100 said it was you. I strongly agree with them. It’s really ironic that this same municipality lags behind and neglects its mandatory duties. This calls for microscopic scrutiny and observation which might warrant the replacement, or reshuffling, of the immediate administration, with the discussion of the city council. I believe you can do something about this unacceptable plight.
I was shocked to see the pictures about the trash with boxes and plastic bags widely spread throughout the same places we would walk and play soccer games when we were children. This problem is due to overpopulation, but no matter how big our city becomes, we should still be concerned with its image. Not only for image, but for health and environment, too. These things can cause diseases and pollute our living and recreational areas.
I know you are trying to do something currently about this, but remember this issue is ongoing. So let your efforts be ongoing and consistent as well. As long as you are in the office, this issue must be one of the top priorities for you and a precedent you will leave for other mayors to follow. Please keep the city clean.
Sincerely,
Faisal Omar Bile
