A Tribute To All Those Who Perished In The Sea

How can any one explain the impact of a detain in or an exclusion policy to Awdal youth and this government to becoming desensitized to the tragic death of so many Awdal youth, yet when I close my eyes at night, this event continues to replay like some horrible nightmare?

And how can I explain the tremendous sense of pride Awdal people felt joining their SL compatriot clans in SL entity?

Hargeisa became the epicenter of NGOs and all developmental projects carried by these NGOs, while the situations in other parts of the country, esp. Awdal, are left to fester.

Our Awdal youth has been thrust into extraordinary situations, which either break you outright, or slowly work at your sense of what it means to be Awdalite in SL and cause you to question you’re own standing and the larger question of what truly Awdal has benefited from SL entity.

Sadly as the death of these Awdal youth can be interpreted, along with other factors, as the ultimate pay off of a Government’s abandonment policy, image of all these young lives cut short will forever be carried in our hearts. And as long as I have air to breathe, their names, and their temptation to dice with death, ostensibly to escape from the melancholy situation in Awdal, for better life will not be forgotten. They were my younger brothers and sisters.

May Allah bless them All
