Open Letter to Ddimbiil, The Author Of “Ali Jirde’s Humanity and Silanyo’s Shameless Greed”

Dear Warsame,

Few weeks ago I came across your article. ‘Ali Jirde’s Humanity and Silanyo’s Shameless Greed’ published in Harowo.com on 16th May 2008. The main theme that your article highlighted for me is the question of Human Rights. If an extremely well known person like Engineer Ali Jirde has been treated and humiliated like that? What is happening the rest of the society that so vulnerable and do not have leg to stand in order to defend themselves from cruel people like Silanyo and his wife.

Ali Jirde is one of the finest, genuine, kindness and noble people that lived in this centaury and still living. He is a pioneer in so many ways and so many levels: He is a pioneer for his nation and for the international community. He is one of the best Engineers that Somalis ever had; his architect in Mogadishu included many historic buildings like Mosques, Parliament and Ministerial buildings, Business buildings, Factories and Private houses.

In Hargaysa every beautiful building that you could admire Engineer Ali Jirde is the brain behind it. He is a wonderful family man; an outstanding Engineer; Engineering and Sports educator; an International icon and a father Somali nation. Engineer Ali Jirde and his late wife (Maryan Hassan) had cared; brought and educated many people in this world. Amino, Amino Weris or Weris as you called her in your article maybe she is better off as ‘forever runner up Somaliland future first lady.’ She is one of the people that Ali Jirde brought up. I remembered her saying in regular basis that Ali Jirde was the person behind her success in every way and he never stop supporting her when they were Refugee in UK, when her husband was away and was leading the rebel and even when she moved back to Somaliland in order to support her husband’s presidential candidacy of her husband, even though insider said she moved to be near Engineer Ali’s wealth as he was getting old.

In old original Somalia in Mogadisho Ali Jirde was the International Ambassador for the Scandinavian Countries and still he is in Somaliland. Also in Somaliland he is the representative of the Red Cross and other NGOs. Ali Jirde should have a historic place in the history of his family and Somali/Somaliland Nation while he is alive.

It is an Extremely Shameless hearing that his sister/daughter and her husband characterized Engineer Ali Jirde as ‘TOO SENILE’’ and dragged him and his three children in Civil Court in order to take his power and wealth while he is still alive. Engineer Ali Jirde and his three children do not deserve to be terrorized; humiliated and called names the middle of Somaliland. To be honest with you, the whole Somaliland Nation should feel ashamed. Looking after an elderly family member like Engineer Ali Jirde, if that the case or needed and taking care of his welfare does not cost the earth!! Somaliland living legend pioneer and noble Engineer Ali Jirde humiliated and harassed in his own country and in his own house. It makes me sick.

Ali Jirde’s Nobleness and Kindness for Children VS Silanyo/Wife Coldness and Calculation

Engineer Ali Jirde was one of the first Somalilander’s that adopted a child in the late 1950 to early 1960; he and his late wife Maryan had adopted (Duale/Hussein). Engineer Ali himself told me that he had a hard time bring Duale up in Hargaysa from the beginning of the adoption and also the child (Duale) himself had a hard time with his peers as the society was not educated to take on board the need for adopting a child, things got better when the family moved to Mogadishu and Duale made friends and well settled with the society in the South. It was my experience that Duale was forever in need for the acceptance of his father’s family specially Amino because she was not only an aunty but was in the role of a bigger sister as Engineer Ali brought her up too. But reality was that she hated that boy beyond human imagination and she often used to call him ‘bastard/Garac’ behind his back but she did not used to hide or feel shame from other people.

Duale straggled extremely on his persisting trial to please Amino to get her recognition and that internal psychological preoccupation could be one element that had lasting impact on his developmental stages because the boy was devoted all his emotions to get closeness from her. He went and still going through tremendous identity crisis and Amine’s rejection was enormous and painful to him. We met Dualle and we could not ask him any questions, as his face shows an excruciating sadness and he seemed not to have time to grief the loss of his mother. All he mentioned was that he is worried about his father’s health and the future of his young siblings

Fact Findings Mission

I learned that Engineer Ali and his late wife Maryam Hassan adopted: Muna 21 years old now and Mohamoud 1 ½ year old at the moment. I learned since Engineer Ali’s wife (Maryam) passed away in April 2007, Amino began raiding Ali’s house randomly on daily basis and harassed Engineer Ali and his children. It has been reported to me that Amino said to Muna “you are not Ali’s biological child, you are evil, bastard/Garac, and a bitch from the hell and you are going back to hell”. It has been reported that Amino repeated this act to Muna in many occasions. It has been reported that Amino ordered that baby Mohamoud to be chucked into orphanage but it did not happen because of Engineer Ali Jirde’s objection. Also, in our fact finding mission we learned that Amino made a plan for Engineer Ali and his family and if she had she win the Court and her plan was concluded that she would place Engineer Ali under the care of his niece, put baby Mohamoud in orphanage and threw Duale and Muna in the street. Imagine after taking assets placing him under someone else care and kicked his kids in the street. Not even having the decency to say I will take my brother to my home and looked after. Such behavior shows how cruel, cold and calculated of this woman.

It has been reported that Silanyo was not in the Courtroom, he sent his wife blatantly to loot Engineer Ali and his children and he pretended as though he has no clue about the ordeal, agony and misery that Engineer Ali and his children has been through for more than a year. It has been reported to me that the house that belongs to Engineer Ali and Amino occupies as a hotel. She did not throw the family out of it. I learned that the house used to be rented by a Danish NGO and it used to be an income for the family. The Danish NGO emptied the house few months prior Engineer Ali’s wife Maryam death and Engineer Ali and his wife agreed that the house has to be turned into a hotel in order to continue as the income of the family. Dualle and 3 other boys who are Engineer Ali’s nephews supposed to be running this hotel and the boys carried out the work converting the house into a hotel, while they were about to start the hotel, Engineer Ali’s wife Maryam passed away.

The insider told us Amino persuaded Engineer Ali that the boys do not have experience of running hotels and they won’t be able to make any money. So she will rent the house from him and pay him a sum of $700 per month i.e. she snatched the building from the boys and The insider added the boys were devastated and as a result they left Somaliland all together and went back to Europe (we got some of them their names and contact addresses and we will nominate somebody to contact them). The insider told us Amino is running the hotel over a year now and she did not pay a penny to Engineer Ali. The insider said ‘some time beginning of this year Engineer Ali was very ill, Amino escorted him to Djibouti for medical treatment and she requested money from Engineer Ali’s relatives in the Diaspora and the relatives sent money to her. The insider mentions quite an amount and added that she left Engineer Ali in Djibouti without any money and returned to Hargaysa within 2 days.

Mean, Greed, possessive and selfish

Dear Warsame greediness, meanness, selfishness, possessiveness, coldness and cruelty are all in the line of ill neediness and internal deprivation. I could not agree with you more than that Mr Silenyo and his wife have shared ½ and ½ of these heinous qualities. Amino works a local NGO I had an informal chatting with some of her colleagues at work and enquire what work that does for them. They replied ‘she runs education workshops, attended donor meetings etc.’ Then I asked if she is a volunteer? The ladies pretended that they did not hear the question and I repeated for them. They seemed bit puzzled and responded ‘Amino does not volunteer for anything, we paid her $600.’ A woman in her position running hotel, taking $600 from a local NGO and running to lead country? A genuine woman could volunteer for the organization and young mothers could work and earn that $600. Silenyo and Amino got 5 children amongst their children are a lawyer working the UN, an Engineer, a financial person, a medicine person etc and they are all working. If each of their children gave them $200 per month that is $1000. We learned that they own about 3 houses in UK and some in USA. Not to mention liquidizing their supporters forever.

Before I read your article if you asked me to describe Silanyo’s characters I would say he is “very mean, selfish and possessive man who has difficulty promoting others. The fundamental nature of civilized, knowledgeable and leadership, is one time you are running for your success and you are getting the support others and other times you are promoting and supporting the success others. As long as I remember and I am talking for the last 40 odd years, Silanyo was standing where he was running for his success and relying on with the support of other people. Whenever you say ‘Oh at last he got what/where he wants’ he destroyed his success himself by storming out, ending up on the rebel side, barking, playing the victim role and starting campaigning from square one again!! People with that kind of behaviour (shameless) are actors: They’re either incapable to fulfill the role, so whenever they are so near to it, they flee or sabotage and destroyed their success or they are forever deceiving the society by giving ‘false hope’ and liquidizing without taking any responsibility. People sold their houses for his support while he was buying houses in the middle of his election and all he has to do was ‘I was robbed and lost ’. Then keep going and finding new people to sell their houses.

In the fact finding we tried to do justice for them and meet them for the case of Engineer Ali and his children. I were told that the couple flew to London UK for the wedding of their son. We learned that the wedding is happening the last week of June in one of the most expensive banquets in the heart of London. The guests are coming from all over the world and the list varies 500 to 600 people.
