Be aware of the call of covert anti-Somaliland groups claiming that there is a Constitutional crises in Somaliland. UDUB UK discloses.
Despite the fact that Somaliland flourishes and weathers through her progressive endeavour of ensuring democratic, political and security development with little support from those international organizations that were supposed to be helping those who are most in need, yet it came out to the light that there are covert anti- Somaliland groups including foreign nationals who are engaged in doing dirty business to damage the international image of the nascent state of Somaliland and vowed not to spare a moment to tarnish the image of Somaliland for their own political ends.
However these groups need to be aware that Somaliland has been standing on her own feet over the last 17 years, during which our leadership has been working hard on ensuring her lawful seats at the UN and AU, while there appears to be those who would like to paint an ugly portrait of Somaliland in the eyes of the international communities.
We, the leadership of UDUB UK, like any Somalilanders are dismayed to note that these groups are propagating an unfounded accusation: that there is a constitutional crisis in Somaliland and planning to hold debates about the issue. The agenda of these debates and meetings is to derail the Somaliland’s peace and democratic progress. We would like to bring to the attention of these covert groups to the fact that there is no constitutional crisis in Somaliland. Hence their activities are waste of time. Not even worth to say too little too late.
The constitution of Somaliland contains all the necessary articles that can deal with her issues and ensures that there shall never be a power vacuum in Somaliland; and where there is a need to either amend or introduce new draft legislation, there are the right articles that detail how this could be achieved, as explained in Article 74 of the constitution of the Republic of Somaliland.
It is also imperative to notify them that the issue of the extension of the current Somaliland president’s term was carried out in accordance with the constitution of the Republic of Somaliland. The article appropriate to the condition has been there since the creation of the constitution of the Republic of Somaliland.
The fact of the matter is that these covert group’s political friends in Somaliland do have little knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland, as they are led by those, who had opposed the creation of the constitution and other important institutions of the state of Somaliland. We would like to call upon the people of Somaliland to boycott any ill thought round table meetings to be held by these covert groups. The people of Somaliland had in the past refused these covert groups call for political violence in Somaliland on 15 May 2008.
I would like to conclude this article with the fact that while the international community and many think-tanks have already acknowledged Somaliland’s tangible achievements, yet there are covert anti-Somaliland groups that advocate for the opposite.
Finally we would like to warn these groups that Somaliland people are aware of their activities and ask them to stop their ugly campaign that they have been secretly waging against Somaliland’s international image. The people of Somaliland have a high respect for their invaluable friends and for those who were so keen about Somaliland’s cause.
